Fundraiser for Westchester Foundation for Autism Event Details

The fundraiser will be held at the new restaurant, Chat, located at 1 Christie Place
Scarsdale, NY 10583 at 7pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Hors d'oeuvres will
be served as a showing includes live salsa dancing, make-up application and a runway
show of today’s latest hairstyles. Tickets are $75 per person or $85 at the door the

Auditions for Handel's MESSIAH Event Details

The Westchester Chorale, Chorus in Residence, Larchmont Avenue Church joins Music Director Douglas Kostner in inviting all singers to join us for open rehearsals and auditions for our December 11th concert.

The open rehearsals will take place at 7:45 PM on Sept 14, 21 and 28 in Russell Hall at Larchmont Avenue Church, located at Forest Park Avenue at the corner of Larchmont Avenue. For information please call 914 725-7507.

The concert will feature Handel's MESSIAH Part I, Stanford's MAGNIFICAT and NUNC DIMITTIS, and Howells' THE SPOTLESS ROSE.

At Home on The Sound presents:

September 15: “The Supremes – Who They Are and What They Do – or Should Not Do” with Stanley Futterman


All programs are held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Rectory Meeting Room of Sts. John and Paul, 280 Weaver Street. Parking is available in the lower parking lot, accessible by turning from Weaver Street onto Heather Lane between the stone posts marking 280 and turning right into the parking lot.



Refreshments are served at all meetings, which are open to the community.

At Home on the Sound is a grassroots effort founded by local residents who feel they and others in the community should be able to enjoy a vibrant lifestyle in their own homes as they grow older. As part of its services, At Home will offer programs on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The first will focus on a health topic and the second will be program of topical or cultural interest.

Mark Fichtel Surveys Women in Art Event Details

One of Larchmont’s favorite lecturers, Mark Fichtel, has selected about 25 mostly famous paintings from 500 years of Biblical women in Western art for a presentation at the Larchmont Woman’s Club, Friday, September 17.

In addressing interesting aspects of the paintings, the stories behind them, and some remarkable (and often irrelevant facts) about the artists, Mr. Fichtel will also show how the cultures of various periods throughout history reflect an ever-changing view of woman. Free.

Visoky art Exhibit at MAG Event Details

New art work by White Plains artist Mitchell Visoky will be on exhibit at the Mamaroneck Artists Guild Gallery, 126 Larchmont Ave., Larchmont, N.Y. from Sept. 21 to Oct. 9, 2010.

Working with printmaking techniques, Visoky produces monotypes. Into these painterly, one-of-a-kind, hand-pulled prints he often incorporates collage, drawing, and mixed media. He is inspired by the both the natural and built environment. He utilizes color, shape, texture, and pattern in various juxtaposed relationships.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Gallery hours are Tuesday thru Saturday, 12 Noon to 5:00 pm.
