GEORGE LATIMER'S
CIRCUIT BREAKER PLAN CRUMBLING
(October 29, 2008) Assemblyman George Latimer's circuit breaker
scheme was going to be funded by a millionaire's tax that Silver
may pull the plug on
Rob Biagi, 91st Assembly District candidate (Sound Shore –
Westchester County), today said that his opponent Democrat Assemblyman
George Latimer's circuit breaker scheme to raise job-killing taxes
may be in jeopardy.
According to a report in the New York Post, Latimer's boss, Assembly
Speaker Sheldon Silver is considering taking the job-killing so-called
millionaires tax off the table effectively ending Latimer's property
tax plan.
"Speaker Silver tells George Latimer where to sit, when to
speak, how to vote and what issues he should run on," said
Biagi.
"Now that the foundation of Latimer's circuit breaker plan
is crumbling, he's out of ideas to help provide relief to struggling
taxpayers," said Biagi.
"Taxpayers need fundamental property tax relief and a representative
that isn't a puppet of the party bosses and greedy special interests.
That's why I have been championing the bipartisan tax cap to cap
and cut taxes once and for all," said Biagi.
"We need leaders who will protect us and stop wasting our money.
We need to give every family relief by capping taxes, cutting waste
and fixing our economy. Others want to sit back and hope our economy
turns around and taxes are cut on their own. I'm going to get to
work and make sure it does," concluded Biagi.
