Latimer
George
Latimer, 54, is a resident of Rye, serving in his second term as
State Assemblyman, representing Larchmont, Mamaroneck, and other
Sound Shore communities in the 91st District.
He is a marketing executive with over 25 years of private sector
experience, including assignments with subsidiaries of Nestle and
ITT,
and direct project experience with IBM, AT&T, and other major
corporations. He holds a B.A. from Fordham University and an M.P.A.
from
New York University.
His public career includes a four-year term as a City Councilman
in Rye
and seven terms as Westchester County Legislator - including two
terms
as Chairman of the Board of Legislators. In 2004, he was elected
to the
Assembly with 69% of the vote; in 2006 he ran without opposition.
His public record includes significant support and sponsorship
of
legislation on the environment, crime prevention, open government
and
ethics, education support, programs for seniors and healthcare.
During
his tenure as County Board Chair (1998-2001), Westchester County
property taxes were cut three straight years.
George is well-known for his hands-on representation, hosting local
District Office Hours at area diners, and regularly appearing before
the
Larchmont and Mamaroneck Village Boards and the Mamaroneck Town
Council
to update local governments on state issues. He is credited for
securing
$1.2 million for flood remediation projects and helping to close
a state
funding gap for Mamaroneck Schools during 2008. |
