CANDIDATES FOR ASSEMBLY: GEORGE LATIMER*

GEORGE LATIMER'S RESPONSE TO RON BIAGI

(June 30, 2008) Rob Biagi is just another wannabe ideologue who thinks that hot, angry rhetoric is a substitute for thoughtful, hard work. The people of Larchmont and Mamaroneck have seen me work on their behalf year after year: this year alone, I've been fighting for school aid funds that closed a $250,000 gap; fighting for flood mitigation funds for Larchmont and Mamaroneck, that together totalled $800,000; working hard for the parking district requested by the Mamaroneck Town Board which passed the Assembly. All of that was accomplished with a hands-on involvement in the day-to-day life of these communities, and delivering for them in Albany.

Rob states that I "was part of the Westchester County Board that over the last seven years, etc." .... except - I haven't even been a Legislator there for the last four years. And of course, I was the Chairman of the Board that cut Westchester County property taxes in 1998, 1999 and 2000, three years in a row.

I guess Rob doesn't let facts get in the way of what he wants to misrepresent.

A couple of years ago, Rob wanted consideration to become New Rochelle City Judge; last year, he put his name in for New Rochelle City Councilman. He took over as Chair of the Westchester Young Republicans. Finally, he's finally found a race -- an Assembly bid -- and a way to vent his anger on Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans.

Karl Rove showed George W. Bush the way to villify an opponent -- but the same gameplan won't work for Rob Biagi in Larchmont and Mamaroneck. Rob's ideology and rhetoric is wrong for the people of Larchmont and Mamaroneck - and on Election Day, the people will let him know exactly how they feel.

*At the time of the response, George Latimer had not formally announced his bid for re-election.
