JULIE MAGUIRE

Julie Maguire, of St. Simon's Island, Georgia, and formerly of Larchmont, New York, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.

Julie was born in Toronto, Canada to Jere and LeNore "Happy" Sullivan. The family moved to New York and Julie graduated from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, NY. In 1951 she married her husband, Eugene F. Maguire.

She was a former member of the Larchmont Shore Club and the Sts. John and Paul Church, also in Larchmont. She was active in the community and volunteered at St. Vincent's Hospital in Harrison, NY. Julie moved to St. Simon's Island in 1987 where she became a member of St. William's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jere H. Sullivan, Jr., and a daughter-in-law, Margaret A. Maguire. She is survived by her husband, Eugene F. Maguire of St. Simon's Island; a daughter, Patti Shaffer of St. Simon's Island; a son, Eugene F. Maguire, Jr. of Larchmont, NY; two sisters, Patricia A. Doran of Bronxville, NY and Janie Gerold of Setauket, NY; four grandchildren, Trish Shaffer, Meggie Maguire, Katie Maguire and Betsy Maguire and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 -9 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 12 pm at St. William's Catholic Church on St. Simon's Island with interment to follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens. The family suggests Memorial Contributions to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
