THOMAS PHILLIPSThomas A. Phillips, Sr., formerly of Mamaroneck and Harrison, passed away on October 7, 2008 at the age of 82, following a long battle with cancer. Tom was born on January 3, 1926 in Bennington, Vermont, the son of Arthur, Sr. and Mildred Phillips. He served our country during World War II in the Pacific Theater as a member of the United States Navy.On June 9, 1951, he married Annie Noyes of Harrison and together they had 8 children. Tom worked for many years as the parish sexton for St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison. He later worked for Savin Business Machines, Westchester ARC and Grand Union. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed tending his garden and traveling with Annie to visit his children and their families. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur, Edward and Raymond, and three of his children, Thomas Jr., Roscoe and Bernadette. He is survived by Annie, his wife of 57 years, and by his brother, James of Fort Myers, FL. In addition, he is survived by his five children and their spouses, Kathleen and Ronald Melancon of Bedford Hills, NY, Kevin and Ellen Phillips of Spring Hill, KS, Joseph and Margot Phillips of Colonie, NY, Mary Pat and Thomas Bowe of Palmdale, CA, and Daniel and Laura Phillips of St. Augustine, FL. He also leaves three grandchildren, April Horne and her husband, Bryan, and Kevin Thomas Phillips, all of Kansas, and Sarah Phillips of FL, and his great-granddaughter, Addelyn Horne. Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction from 8:30 - 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction at 11 AM. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Chester, NY will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Tom's memory be honored by donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
