DR. EUGENE WASSERMAN
Dr. Eugene Wasserman, of Mamaroneck, died August 11, 2008 at age 77. Mamaroneck's most beloved pediatrician, Dr. Wasserman was an institution having served in Private Practice from 1961-2006 before joining the Westchester Medical Group in 2006.Born on March 2, 1931 to Jacob & Lena Wasserman, Dr. Wasserman was a graduate of Columbia University and The Chicago Medical School. After graduating he served in the Army from 1959-1961. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Wasserman served as Director of Ambulatory Care at United Hospital where he also served as Chief of Pediatrics. He was also a Professor of Pediatrics at NY Medical College in Valhalla.
He, along with his wife Nancy, were founding members of the Washingtonville Housing Alliance where they also served on the board for many years. Dr. Wasserman's steadfast love and ties to the community are witnessed by the many organizations, programs and projects he committed himself to for the betterment of Mamaroneck.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Nancy Wasserman, devoted children, Brett Wasserman (Herminia), Michael Wasserman (Donna) and Julie Kirant and foster child, Chieko Kotani (Yoshio). He is also survived by loving siblings, Arthur Wasserman and Annette Schuman and dear grandchildren, Emily, Sara, Ellie & Jenna and foster grandchildren, Naoki & Kana Kotani.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2-5pm at the ZION MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 785 E. Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck. 914-381-1809.
