RICHARD D. DOHERTY
Richard D. Doherty, 83, former resident of Larchmont and Manhattan, died July 8, 2008 at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital. Dick was born in Larchmont on August 20, 1924, to Sidney J. Doherty and Elizabeth (Murphy) Doherty. He attended Local Catholic schools and served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.Dick later began his career as a television cameraman with CBS in Philadelphia and then joined NBC in NYC. He remained with NBC for the rest of his career, working on newscasts and such shows as The Today Show and Saturday Night Live. Dick was a kind and caring man, liked by everyone who met him and loved by all his relatives and many friends.
He is survived by his sister Eileen McCaffrey and her husband James of NYC; Brother Sidney Jr. of Bryn Mawr, PA., Bryan and his wife Maureen of New Rochelle, Michael of Yonkers, and Eugene and his wife Ann of New Rochelle; and numerous nephews and nieces.
