ROBERT FRANCIS DEGENRobert Francis Degen, Jr., a lifelong resident of Larchmont, died July 6, 2008, after a brief illness. He was 85 years old. Born June 7, 1923 in Manhattan to Robert & Veronica Icker Degen, he was retired from a long career as advertising sales manager for national newspapers.Robert graduated from Iona Preparatory School and Fordham University and completed his studies for a Masters Degree in Business at New York University. During WWII he served with distinction in the U.S. Army, 9th Air Force in Central Europe and was awarded several medals. On July 2, 1955, he married Margaret McConologue in White Plains. He was a parishioner of the Church of Sts. John & Paul in Larchmont where he was a founding member. He had been a long-time member of the Larchmont Shore Club. In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, he is survived by seven children, daughters, Veronica Snyder of White Plains, Mary of New Rochelle, Margaret O'Connor of New City and Patricia of Larchmont, and sons, Kevin of Rye, Robert of Larchmont and Paul of Mamaroneck, and 12 grandchildren. He was loved and respected by his family and friends and will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, his singular love of and pride of his family, good humor, his generosity and his love of learning and animals. Visitation Monday, July 7 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, July 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck, 914-698-5968. Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 9 at 10am at Sts. John & Paul RC Church followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. |
