EDGAR CAMBERE

Edgar Cambere died on April 20, 2008 at 93 years of age. Born in New York City, he raised his family in Larchmont, N.Y. before retiring in the Palm Beach area. After building homes in both Lost Tree Village, Florida and Seven Lakes, N.C. he and his wife, Margo moved to Edgehill in Stamford, CT to be close to family.

He graduated from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1935 where he was Captain of the Boxing Team, elected to the Friar Senior Society and a member of Beta Theta Pi. Upon graduation, he wrote for the Lone Ranger radio show, served as an executive at the R.H. Macy Company and later at the B.B.D &O Advertising Agency.

In 1941, Edgar served as a 2nd Lt. Infantry and completed his military duty as a Major and Chief of Counter Intelligence in Belgium, Holland and northern France. He was honored for his work in Belgium with a decoration of the Ordre de Leopold II, an honor rarely given to anyone other than a Belgian. Upon his discharge in 1946, he joined the family firm of Trifari, Krussman & Fishel, one of the country's leading manufacturers of high-quality, fashion jewelry. Mr. Cambere retired as Senior Vice President in 1975.

He was a member of: The Knights of Columbus; the Kiwanis Club; Pinehurst Country Club; the National CIC organization; the Reserve Officers Association; and past member of Westchester Country Club. Edgar was a man who passionately loved his faith and his family and was tirelessly generous to all those in need. His main hobby was gemology and he earned the coveted Graduate Gemologist Degree from the Gemological Institute of America and thoroughly enjoyed putting his expertise to work for his family and friends.

Besides his wife, Margo, Mr. Cambere is survived by his daughter, Michele Flood and husband Robert of Rye, NY; his son, Marc Cambere and wife Michele of Lake Mahopac, NY; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and fourteen nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the Graham Funeral Home in Rye, N.Y. Monday, April 21 from 7-9 PM and a Funeral Mass will be held at the Resurrection Church in Rye, N. Y. at 10 AM Tuesday, April 22.
