GERALD A. SEXTON

Gerald A. Sexton of Scarsdale died peacefully at home on February 1, 2008. Mr. Sexton was born in New York City on August 29, 1918 to Jere A. Sexton and Helen McCabe Sexton. Mr. Sexton was raised in New Rochelle where he attended Iona Grammar School and Iona Prep. In 1940 he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Philosophy. He was a Captain in the Army during World War II. Mr. Sexton was a member of the American Stock Exchange where he worked as a Specialist with Sexton & Smith for 35 Years.

Mr. Sexton raised his family in Mt. Kisco, NY, where he coached Little League, Babe Ruth League, and CYO Basketball and in Larchmont, NY where he was active in the parents' associations of both Iona Prep and the School of the Holy Child, Rye. He was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Scarsdale. He was an avid golfer and tennis player.

Mr. Sexton was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Jeanne. He is survived by six children, Donna McGuane of Franklin, MA, Jeanne Nolan (Richard H. Nolan) of Bronxville, NY, Patricia Costello (Dennis R. Costello) of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, Katherine Stundis of East Greenwich, RI, Gerald A. Sexton, Jr. (Mary Pat) of Ridgefield, Conn. and Michael R. Sexton (Janice) of North Attleboro, MA. Mr. Sexton is survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who adored him. He is also survived by one brother William Sexton (Joan) of White Plains, NY, and one sister Mary Sexton of New Rochelle, NY.

Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday, February 4. Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Scarsdale on Tuesday February 5 at 10 AM. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
