JOSEPHINE (DODY) FREEMANJosephine W. Freeman (Dody), 84, of Rye, died January 31, 2008. For 61 years the beloved wife of John L. Freeman. She is survived by her son David and his wife Ellen of Larchmont; her son Bill and his wife Beth of Hillsborough, CA; her son-in-law Robert Garafola of New York City; her grandchildren, Matt, Julie, Laura and Scott Freeman; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Betsy.Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Dody was educated in London and Scarsdale, and graduated from Wheaton College, with which she remained involved throughout her life. She had many extraordinary talents; she was a gifted writer, gardener, poet and photographer. Dody served as the President of Family Service of Westchester and the YWCA of White Plains and was active with the Friends of Sarah Neuman. She believed deeply in the importance of education and sponsored scholarships at her alma mater. Always in charge at home, and always gracious, welcoming and warm to all who knew her.
