Stolen Items Recovered During Buglary Investigation
by Judy Silberstein
(October 2, 2008) The burglary suspect arrested last week
in connection with two recent Mamaroneck Town break-ins has been tied
to five additional crimes in Mamaroneck Town, two in Larchmont Village
and several more in Scarsdale, New Castle and Harrison. (See: Arrest
Made in Recent Burglaries.)
According to Mamaroneck Town Police Detective Lt. Jerry
McCarthy, over the past week, police executed search warrants for Kevin
McBride’s vehicle, his residence in Croton-on-Hudson, a storage
facility in New Rochelle and a pawn shop in Harlem.
“We recovered a lot of property believed to be stolen
in the burglaries,” said Lt. McCarthy. “We got a substantial
amount of jewelry out of the pawn shop.“
Mr. McBride was arrested by Mamaroneck Town Police as he
was driving into Port Chester on September 20. Since then, detectives
have been going through a laborious process of executing search warrants,
gathering items believed to have been stolen and working with victims
to have items identified . A number of residents were expected in the
Mamaroneck Town Police Department on Thursday, October 2 to fill out sworn
affidavits identifying property as items stolen from their homes in recent
months.
“One we felt particularly good about was a Cornell
University ring with the monogram of the owner,” said Lt. McCarthy.
Among the items identified were those from two burglaries
in Larchmont Village, both on Saturday, September 13. (See:After
Break-ins, Residents Warned to Lock Doors & Windows )
Other items were linked to Mamaroneck Town burglaries going
back at least as far as June 18. (See: Patio
Door Burglars Hit Mamaroneck Town.)
“This is still an active, ongoing investigation,”
said Lt. McCarthy, when asked if there was a possibility of ties to additional
burglaries that occurred earlier in the year.
