Washington Square Man Arrested On Drug Sales
by Judy Silberstein
(June
18, 2008) Pablo Pantajo, 34, of 2 Washington Square in Town of Mamaroneck,
was arrested by Westchester County police on Tuesday, June 17 and charged
with 6 counts of selling and another 6 counts of possessing controlled
substances that included crack and powder cocaine, Ecstasy and marijuana.
He was also charged with possession of a weapon.
According to Lt. James Luciano, commander of the Westchester
County Police Narcotics Unit, Mr. Pantajo had been under investigation
for over 6 months. Police had information that Mr. Pantajo was selling
drugs locally. “We knew him from past investigations,” said
Lt. Luciano. “We suspected he was storing narcotics there [2 Washington
Square, apartment I].” He was observed selling drugs to a variety
of customers in Mamaroneck Town, Port Chester and other communities along
the Sound Shore.
The Westchester police obtained a search warrant for the
apartment, and when they observed Mr. Panajo leaving and driving off,
they stopped and arrested him. He had cocaine, Ecstasy and marijuana with
him, and a subsequent search of the apartment uncovered additional drugs,
a loaded .40 caliber handgun and over $6000 in cash.
According to Lt. Luciano, Mr. Pantajo had five prior arrests going back
to 1994. He served a 5-year probation term after a felony conviction for
drug possession in 2002.
Mr. Pantajo had lived in other Westchester communities,
including Port Chester, Larchmont and Rye, before taking the Mamaroneck
Town apartment. If convicted on the current charges, he faces a maximum
of 15 years in prison.
“We’ve been tracking Mr. Pantajo for a long
time - our investigators put a lot of hard work into this arrest, “
said Lt. Luciano. “And we’re very happy to remove another
hand gun from the streets of Westchester.”
Mr. Pantajo was arraigned in Mamaroneck Town Court on Tuesday
evening and is scheduled for another court appearance on Monday, June
23.
