submitted by Coach Bob Meglio
(June 12, 2008) The Larchmont Mamaroneck Youth League (LMYL)
Senior Girls were finalist in the 14th Annual LaxMax 2008 Lacrosse Tournament,
July 6th-8th in Baltimore, Maryland. LaxMax is one of the largest lacrosse
tournaments, hosting 1600 teams from US & Canada.
The Larchmont and Mamaroneck Senior Girls, 13- and 14-year-olds,
excelled in their first travel tournament, taking on teams from Pennsylvania
to Maryland. They braved the 95 degree temperatures, playing a total of
five games over two days.
The team won their first four games, outscoring their opponents
39-21, including an exciting semi-final win over ESP, 7-5. They advanced
to the championship game but fell short to a tough team from Bowie, MD,
in a sudden death overtime, 7-8, on a penalty shot.
During the regular season, the LMYL Senior Girls were a powerhouse this
year, compiling an impressive regular season record of 11-1-0.
