Town Teens Have New Summer Choice: Teen Escape

from The Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department

(April 10, 2008) The Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department is revamping its camp offerings and adding Teen Escape, a new summer program for boys and girls entering 7th and 8th grades in the fall.

Starting this summer, the day camp at the Hommocks will be reserved for children entering grades 1 through 6. The 7th and 8th graders will have their own travel camp, dubbed Teen Escape.

six flagsTeen campers have a choice: they can select one of two 3-week sessions or sign-up for the entire 6-week program.

Their days will start at the Hommocks School parking lot with the teens climbing aboard a Mamaroneck bus. One day they may be riding “Rolling Thunder” at Great Adventure, the next day deep sea fishing on Long Island Sound. Trips are planned for Yankee and Met baseball games, as well as water parks and a Broadway musical.

REGISTRATION: The program is limited to 39 teens, and places will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Mamaroneck Town residents will get first crack – registration begins on Tuesday, April 15th from 10:00 am to noon and 2:00 to 4:00 pm. If there is still space, non-residents will be allowed to register beginning on May 23.

DATES: & FEES:

Session I runs from Monday through Friday each week from June 30 through July 18. The cost is $850 for Mamaroneck Town residents and $1000 for non-residents.

Session II is from July 1 through August 8. Residents pay $900 and non-residents $1100.

Campers wanting both sessions will be charged $1700 for residents and $2000 for non-residents. The trips will vary in each session.
