by Janet Younkin of WJCS

(April 10, 2008) Robert Stavis, a Larchmont resident and former board president of Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), was honored at the organization’s 65th anniversary gala on April 3 at X20 Xaviar's on the Hudson, Peter Kelly's new riverfront restaurant in Yonkers.

Over 250 celebrants were at the event, which spotlighted the agency's 65 years of serving Westchester County with an array of programs to help children, adults and families navigate life's challenges. Mr. Stavis is a Managing Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) in Larchmont.

"Rob Stavis represents the best of WJCS," said Alan Trager, WJCS CEO and executive director. "He truly feels and understands the needs of our clients and the community and is able to use his exceptional interpersonal, analytical and business skills to help meet those needs. We are fortunate to have had Rob's guidance as we envision and plan for the future of our agency."

WJCS operates out of nearly 70 sites throughout Westchester annually serving more than 16,000 people with needs ranging from learning supports to serious mental health issues and from daycare to end-of-life counseling.
