Red Sox Bringing World Series Trophy to Larchmont
by Judy Silberstein
(February 7, 2008) The Boston Red Sox organization is bringing
its 2007 World Series trophy to Larchmont next Wednesday, February 13.
Local fans of baseball or Boston will be able to snap photos of themselves
beside the 2-foot tall, sterling silver Commissioner's Trophy in the following
locations:
| 11:15 - 1:15 |
Hommocks School Commons (local children only) |
| 2:00 - 3:00 |
Larchmont Village Hall Court Room |
| 3:15 - 4:30 |
Larchmont Temple |
Mayor Liz Feld (whose husband works for the Red Sox organization)
made a formal request that Larchmont be one of the stops on the trophy's
tour of the area "so all the baseball fans in the community could
enjoy a piece of history," she reported.
The trophy - and its publicity and security team - will
make stops at the Hommocks Middle School, Larchmont Village Hall and the
Larchmont Temple. (Rabbi Jeff Sirkman is "the biggest Red Sox fan
in town," revealed Mayor Feld.)
Careful to be impartial, the mayor said, "If the Mets
had won, I'd have asked them."
