GEORGE ALLENGeorge Allen, a lifetime resident of Westchester County, died on October 19th at home in Larchmont, NY. He was born on December 14, 1947 in Bronxville, NY. He attended Annunciation Grammar School, Crestwood, then Stepinac High School, White Plains, where he was senior class president, all county shotputter, and captain of the track team. He received the John F. Kennedy Citizen Award. George attended St. John's University with a full athletic scholarship for shotput. He was a ten time metropolitan champion and a two time IC4A champion. George was captain of the track team and 8th ranked shotputter in the country in 1969. He received the Harry Agganis Award in 1970 as most outstanding Greek American Athlete in the U.S. George was honored in Who's Who in American College and Universities and Outstanding College Athletes of America in 1969. George received a BS and MBA in business from St. John's U. He was a vice president of Merrill Lynch, Prudential Bache and Smith Barney. He was also adjunct professor of business finance at Mercy College. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and was president of the Parish Council from 1992-1994. He was a member of the church choir and appeared in many musical productions. George coached the church basketball team and the Larchmont/Mamaroneck baseball team. George is survived by his wife Antigone, children Stephanie and Peter, sisters Cornelia and James Pappas, and Jean Santucci. Also, son-in-law of Fotini Paputsaki, brother-in-law of Nicki and Bill Livanos and uncle of John and Nicole Livanos, Alexandra and Christina Pappas. The Funeral Service was on October 22 with interment at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Holy Trinity Sunday School Classroom Building Fund. |
