YOUNG EUI PARKYoung Eui Park died peacefully at home on September 3, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 3, 1925, and grew up near Seoul, Korea. She married Mr. Bo Young Park on April 10, 1944 and together they raised six wonderful children and lived in Seoul. In 1996, they immigrated to New York to be near four of their children who had settled there; they moved to Mamaroneck in 1997.Mrs. Park's beloved husband of 55 years passed away in 1999, and since then she has spent her time in the company of her children, studying English, making new friends, pursuing her lifelong love of gardening, and caring for her birds. She was proud to become a US citizen at age 77. She was, above all, a devoted wife and mother, and is survived by her six loving children, sons Kunkyu Park of the Bronx, and Wankyu Park of Seoul, as well as her daughters Yooncha Park of the Bronx, Seungja Ryu of Toronto, Seunghee Bernard and Eunme Friend, both of Mamaroneck. She also leaves eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a second great-grandchild is due any day. All who knew her were inspired by her gentle strength and her compassion for all living beings, especially those in need. She nurtured sick animals back to health, cared deeply for friends and family, and lived life with dignity and a sense of humor. She will be missed immeasurably.
