200 Walk for Homes in Larchmont
from Habitat for Humanity of Westchester
(November 15, 2007) More than 200 supporters of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester walked from Larchmont's St. Augustine Church to Manor Park and back on Sunday, November 11. This was the sixth Walk for Homes, and the effort raised more than $6000.

St. Augustine ’s Church helped sponsor the walk and people from around Westchester joined in as Habitat kicked off its 20th anniversary. Habitat for Humanity of Westchester built its first home in Larchmont 20 years ago.
“This is a historic walk for us,” stated Jim Killoran, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester. “It is a critical time in the development of Westchester County and Habitat for Humanity of Westchester sees itself raising the bar in communities and homes in a critical way,” he added.
Among the walkers were students from Harrison and Chappaqua and from the Harvey School, Mamaroneck High School, Scarsdale High School, Eastchester High School, Blessed Sacrament High School and Holy Child of Rye. Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld came out to welcome the crowd.
Mr. Killoran said Habitat is planning a series of 20th anniversary events to help at this important time.
