(November 1, 2007) The first harbinger of Halloween in Larchmont Village appears in store windows as part of the Recreation Department's window painting program. There were plenty of pumpkins - and ghosts and bats and vampires to be seen on store windows around the business district. Then came the parade on Sunday, October 28. Even Larchmont's homes got in the act for the first annual Halloween house decorating contest. Winners are listed below.

Larchmont's Recreation & Fire departments collaborated to host this year's Rag-A-Muffin Parade on a gloriously sunny Sunday (after Saturday's soggy weather forced a postponement). Over 1500 hot dogs were distributed before the supply ran out - 500 more than last year, reported Fire Chief Rich Heine.

The marchers included Larchmont Trustee Marlene Kolbert, in disguise (top right) and candidates for Mamaroneck Town supervisor: Valerie O'Keeffe, the incumbent (top left) and Ernie Odierna, currently a Town councilman. They were reminding residents that everyone in Larchmont Village, Mamaroneck Town and Mamaroneck Village is eligible to vote for town-wide positions on Tuesday, November 6.

Linda Lore snapped this shot of Antonio Dattilo, with grandson Andreo Otiniano. Mr. Dattilo, who was a cook at Sal's Pizzeria for 31 years, has grown pumpkins before in his Madison Street garden in Mamaroneck Village, but none as big as this year's crop. Four of the largest pumpkins came from the same vine.

At the end of the parade, the Fire Department handed out hotdogs to go with the Farmers' Market apples and cider available in front of the Larchmont Library.

	Judges from the Larchmont Recreation Committee inspected houses registered for their new contest.
