CANDIDATE FOR VILLAGE MAYOR:

LIZ FELD

Letter to Fellow Republicans From Liz Feld

(January 30, 2006) Dear Fellow Republicans,

Several weeks ago, I announced my candidacy for Mayor because I believe the Village of Larchmont needs new leadership. I intend to campaign on the issues, my accomplishments as Trustee and Deputy Mayor, and on my record of bringing people together to work towards common goals.

As a lifelong Republican and participant in politics and civic affairs, I am honored to have served on the Village Board for the past four years. During my first campaign in 2002, I ran on a platform of “People Before Politics.” I am proud that my contribution to the Board’s work has included the vital role of bringing people together, from different points of view, to debate ideas and be treated respectfully and fairly. In any small Village, the Mayor sets the tone. The contentious battle that played out for months during the Village police contract negotiations, and the disrespectful treatment of community volunteers during the planning for the Flint Park playground project, are examples of divisive management that have no place in our community. In a Village as special as Larchmont, residents, merchants and employees deserve a leader who is willing to listen, who shows respect for civil debate, and who will work efficiently and effectively for the community.

While a lot has been accomplished by so many people over the past four years, elections are about the future. As Mayor, I would:

--Continue my work to hold the line on Village taxes.

--Improve the Building Department to make the permit application process less confusing and cumbersome, and more efficient for our residents.

--Promote more public/private partnerships to:

--Renovate and expand the Flint Park Playhouse;

--Refurbish Constitution Park as a Village Green;

--Explore acquisition of available properties for potential use as open space, recreational fields, single family residences, and/or other uses.

--Improve the business district near the train station and Palmer Avenue.

I am proud to run for Mayor on my record and my vision for how to change the way the Village government can operate. This Tuesday, Larchmont Republicans will choose their candidate for Mayor. I want to be your partner in accomplishing the goals I have set before you. Please support me at the Republican Caucus this Tuesday night, January 31st, at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion in Flint Park when all Republicans will have the opportunity to vote on our Party’s future.

Respectfully,

Liz Feld
