ROBERT FRANCIS FLOOD
Robert Francis Flood, husband of the late Catherine Byrnes Flood, died of natural causes on
December 28, 2006 at his residence, Meadow Lakes in Hightstown, New Jersey. He lived in
Larchmont, NY and Boynton Beach, FL for many years. He was 94 years old.
Mr. Flood was a graduate of the lona School in New Rochelle, NY. He attended Georgetown
University in Washington, DC and graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in
1935. He joined the Union Carbide Corporation in 1935 and became President of the Linde
Division in 1962. He retired in 1977 from Union Carbide as a Corporate Vice President.
He served on boards and advisory committees for many institutions including Rosemont College,
the University of Notre Dame, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Trinity Missions.
Mr. Flood was a devout Catholic, had a lifelong interest in
golf and was an avid outdoor enthusiast. He was a member of
Pine Valley and Winged Foot Golf Clubs, Larchmont Yacht Club
and the University Club of New York.
Mr. Flood was born on February 27, 1912 in Manhattan, NY.
He was the son of the late Julia and Maurice Flood of New
Rochelle, NY. He is survived by his seven children Maurice
Flood of Pinellas Park, FL, Pauline Littleton of Potomac,
MD, Robert Jr. Flood of Rye, NY, Kathleen and David Renton
of Riverside, CT, Timothy Flood of St. Petersburg, FL, Patricia
Meyers of Wyomissing, PA, and Marian Dorazio of Skillman,
NJ, their spouses, seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY on
Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 10 AM. Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities.
