BESSIE H. CUMMING

Bessie H. Cumming, age 90, died on December 28, 2006 at Robinson Terrace Residential Care Center in Stamford, NY. She was born on August 27, 1916 in Canada to William Day and Harriett Fletcher. She married James B. Cumming on January 12, 1941 in Mamaroneck, NY. He died June 12, 2001.

Bessie was a volunteer at the United Hospital in Port Chester, NY for many years and also for the Red Cross and Camp Fire Girls. Also a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Mamaroneck, NY. Bessie has lived in Mamaroneck, Saratoga Springs and Stamford, NY.

Mrs. Cumming is survived by two sons, James Cumming of Saratoga Springs, NY and Ronald Cumming of Roxbury, NY, six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Winnie Whitlock of Canada. She was predeceased by one daughter, Jean Engle, in 2002.

Committal Services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. Donations in memory of Bessie H. Cumming may be made to Woodlawn Commons, 156 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12868. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, NY, (607)326-7921.
