CHARLES BERNSTEIN

Charles Bernstein, 95, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2006 in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Bernstein was born in New York City and lived in Mamaroneck from 1956 to 2000.

He served as a weather forecaster in the Army Air Corps during World War II, founded his own business, the New York Shredded Paper Company, and was an avid sailor. He was an active member of the Westchester Power Squadron where he taught weather courses.

After Mr. Bernstein retired, he supported local environmental causes and worked with Amnesty International.

He is survived by his daughters Lee Vrana and Nancy Carroll, and his grandchildren Sarah and Jeffrey Wenger and Caitlin, Rachel, and Tessa Carroll.
