ARTHUR C. PHILLIPS, JR.
Arthur C. Phillips, former Mayor of Mamaroneck, NY died on September 22,
2006 at the age of 82. He was born on October 20, 1923 to Mildred J.
Tripp and Thomas W. Phillips in Bolton Landing, NY. Arthur graduated from
Most Holy Trinity School and F.E. Bellows High School, Rye Neck,
Mamaroneck, NY. He received a BA from Iona College in 1951 and a
Master's Degree in Business Administration from New York University in
1954.
In 1942-1945 he served in the United States Air Force. In 1947-1963 he was
employed by Joyce Seven-Up Bottles of New Rochelle, NY and served as
Corporate Secretary and Controller. In 1963-1977 he started a management
and tax consultant business and was an Administrative Officer-Treasurer
for Tompkins Builders, Inc.
In 1965-1977 he served 12 years as the Mayor of Mamaroneck elected six
consecutive terms twice running unopposed. He was trustee of the
Westchester Joint Waterworks serving on the tri-municipal board.
In 1977 he served as Pension and Welfare Fund Manager for Teamsters
Local 338. Arthur also served on the Board of Directors for Sound Federal
Savings and Loan for over 20 years.
A communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck, NY, he was a
member of the Holy Name Society, Ushers, Knights of Columbus Mamaroneck
Council and Cardinal Farley 4th Degree. He was also a member of the
American Legion Post 90, benevolent protective order of Elks-Lodge 1547,
Lions Club, University Club of Mamaroneck, Alessandro Manzoni Lodge Sons
of Italy, Boy Scouts of America former Westchester-Putnam Council-Executive
Advisory Board, Past member Mamaroneck Chamber of Commerce, and Honorary
member of Volunteer Engine and Hose Company No. 3.
Arthur is survived by his wife Lucia and two sons and their spouses;
Arthur III and Sue-Ann of Huntersville, NC and Jeffrey and Maria of
Larchmont, NY and three grandchildren who he loved and adored, Maria Jean,
Marisa and Manda. Predeceased brothers Edward and Raymond Phillips and
surviving brothers Thomas and James and many nieces and nephews.

memory to Most Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck, NY. Reposing at O'Neill
Funeral Home of Mamaroneck, Inc. Visitation hours Saturday, September 23 at
7 pm to 9 pm, Sunday, September 24 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial at Most Holy Trinity Church on Monday,
September 25 at 10 am followed by interment to St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye
