ROBERT CHARLES KELTON
Robert Charles Kelton, of Mamaroneck, NY, died September 3, 2006 at age 78.
Born, October 28, 1927 in the Bronx to David and Frieda (Reinecke)
Kelton.
He married Marie Castle on December 16, 1950. Robert was the co-owner of
HCK Recreation. He is a veteran of the US Navy. For many years he was
the owner of the Riverdale Ice Skating Rink and the Fieldston Bath and
Tennis Club in the Bronx. He was president of the Board of Trustees of
both Barnard School for Boys and Horace Mann School. He was also
president of the Ice Skating Institute of America.
Among many other things, Bob will be remembered for his lifelong
dedication to tennis, which has its roots in the “Notlek“ tennis courts
in the early 1900's.
In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by four sons: Robert C.
Kelton, Jr. (Alana), Charles J. Kelton (Leslie), Theodore Kelton, and
David G. Kelton (Kathleen), five grandsons and a brother, David G.
Kelton (Lucille).
Visitation, Tuesday, September 5 and Wednesday, September 6 from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Road in
Mamaroneck. Funeral Service, Thursday, September 7 at 10 am at St. John's
Lutheran Church followed by an interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
The family requests donations to either Calvary Hospital, Bronx,
NY or St. John's Lutheran Church, Mamaroneck, NY.
