JANET A. SAMELA

Janet A. Samela, a lifelong resident of Mamaroneck, died April 16, 2006 at age 89. Born January 21, 1917 in Mamaroneck to William and Janet (Martin) Ebbinghaus. Janet was a devoted parishioner of St. Thomas Church, and an active volunteer at Sarah Neuman. Her great grandfather, William Martin was a founder of Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department's Hook and Ladder.

Survived by children, William Samela (wife Susan), Robert Samela (wife Leslie) and Bette Pollak (husband Wayne), 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister Ruth Purdy. Predeceased by her husband Alfonso Samela, and siblings William Ebbinghaus and Grace Samela.

Visitation Tuesday, April 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd. in Mamaroneck, (914) 698-5968. Funeral Service Wednesday, April 19 at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. Committal private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department are requested.
