JOHN A. (JACK) BARRY
John A. (Jack) Barry, age 76, of Newtown Connecticut formerly of Larchmont,
New York passed away February 21, 2006 at his home.
Born and raised in Larchmont, he is pre-deceased by his parents John R. and Edna Barry.
Jack attended Iona Prep and Holy Cross College. He was with the U.S. Marines and served
in the Korean War. Jack was an avid golfer and member of Westchester Country Club for
many years. He particularly enjoyed being a Marshall for the Buick Classic Golf
Tournament. Jack was a lifelong New York Giants fan. He also coached for the Larchmont
Little League and Babe Ruth League for 17 years and led the TMFD “Foxes” to the state
championships on more than one occasion
Jack retired from Diebold, Inc. where he worked as a salesman for 31 years. He is
pre-deceased by his wife Janet. He is survived by his loving sister Marilyn (Jack)
McCarthy of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his four children: son Jack (Lil)
Barry of Newtown, Connecticut, daughters Janet Brennan of Marietta Georgia, Luann (Scott)
Barry-Goldman of Los Angeles, California, and Alice Lyn (Charlie) Romanek of Marietta,
Georgia. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: John, Samantha, Alexis, and Joanna
Barry; Kerry, Timmy and Katie Brennan; Jake, Alex, and Casey Goldman; and Rebecca Romanek.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.
The family would like to acknowledge the great care Jack received from all of the staff
with Connecticut VNA Home Health and Hospice Care. We also want to extend a heartfelt
thank you to Robin, for the loving care you provided him in his final months.
Visiting Saturday, February 25 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, February 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at
Fox Funeral Home. Mass Monday, February 27 at 10 am at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont.
Interment will be at gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
