GILDA LANCIA
Gilda Lancia, a Mamaroneck resident, died January 14, 2006 at her
home. She was 98. Born September 14, 1907 in Capestrano, Italy to
Fiore and Maria (Ciotti) Giannunzio.
In 1921 Gilda married Bernard Lancia in Rhode Island. Together they
built, owned and operated the Mamaroneck Motel. Gilda was a remarkable
woman who persevered through good and bad times and always with a
singular devotion to her family. She will be sorely missed.
Survived by her devoted granddaughters Patty MacNamara (husband Arthur),
Debra Vanduyne and Barbara Eckstein (husband Stan). Also survived by a
sister, Anna Venice, eight great-grandchildren, two
great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Gilda is predeceased by her beloved husband Bernard and cherished
daughters, Florence Gilroy, Frances Lancia and Dorothy Winston. Also
predeceased by a granddaughter, Colleen Gilroy and sisters Olga Orsino
and Victoria Bonaccorsi.
Visitation Tuesday, January 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at COXE &
GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck. Funeral
Mass Wednesday, January 18 at 10 am at Sts. John and Paul RC Church
followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial donations can
