Larchmont Library Wants to Know What You Think of It
Community Survey Ends By November 26
by Nancy Donovan
(November 8, 2006) Local residents received an orange postcard
in the mail at the beginning of November from the Larchmont Library seeking
input from the community about library services and facilities. Residents
are asked to take ten minutes to go online and answer a range of basic
questions about their experience with the Larchmont Library.
Diane Courtney, Director of the Library, said the Library Board of Trustees is seeking the opinion of residents about the direction the library should follow in the near future. The eighth busiest library in Westchester, the Larchmont Library has a tradition of responding to community needs.
To take the survey online, simply go to the library’s website, www.larchmontlibrary.org , and click on the link posted on the front page. Those who do not use computers or do not have home Internet access are urged to participate on paper copies available in the Reference Room at the library. Alternatively the library computers can be used to respond to the survey.
The time is limited. The survey ends on November 26 with the expectation that results will be collated by the end of December. Results will be posted on the website at www.larchmontlibrary.org .
Miriam Curnin, chair of the Library Board, said, “For the Larchmont Public Library to maintain its position as a dynamic intellectual and cultural hub of the Village and Town, it must reach out to its constituents and provide them with a tool for informing us of their opinions and needs, which is what this survey does. We on the Library Board are expecting a strong response with information that will help us guide the library for the next decade. We appreciate our constituents’ participation.”
