Exotic Bird On the Lam in Larchmontby Paula Eisenberg
(September 29, 2005) Have you seen this bird? Sweet Bird, a six-year-old Fisher's lovebird, has flown the coop, and her worried owners, Don and Susan Lasala, are asking Larchmonters to keep an eye out for their beloved pet. "She oftens rides on my shoulder around the apartment," said Susan Lasala, of 2 Washington Square. "Last Friday, I went outside to take out the garbage, forgetting she was on my shoulder, and she flew up to a ledge, then across the street to another building." Sweet Bird, who is about 6" long, seemed to be afraid of the people calling out to her, and flew off on "an adventure," according to Lasala. "She's attracted to chimes and bells," said Don Lasala. "And she might show up at somebody's bird feeder. If you see her, please put some seeds out on a railing, and call us right away. We'd be so grateful!" Avian experts think the bird will probably stay within a one mile radius of home. If you spot the prodigal bird, please call 914-924-8193, or 834-5489. |
