Tenure Goes to 33 Teachers in Mamaroneck

by Joan R. Simon

(April 14, 2005) Thirty-three teachers received tenure on April 12, at what many Mamaroneck Board members consider their “favorite meeting of the year.” It wasn’t the largest group – 40 teachers have been tenured in each of the past two years – but the numbers were still impressive, with 11 at the Mamaroneck High School, 10 at the Hommocks, and six at Chatsworth Avenue School. In total, there were 24 teachers, six teaching assistants, two assistant directors of special education and one assistant principal, Jeff Anderson at the high school. In introducing the group, Assistant Superintendent Rosemarie Coletti noted that 14 of the tenure candidates were hired through the job fair that Mamaroneck hosts each year in January.

MHS Newly Tenured Faculty include (in alphaetical order): Charles Jeff Anderson (Asst. Prin.); Jill Ammerata (Soc. Stud.); Vincent Minotti (Health); SaraJane Montanez (Spec. Ed.); Doly Nunez (Span.); Jeffery Queen (Eng.); Caroline Scudder (Soc. Stud.); Mairead Scully (Eng.); David Smith (TA); Danielle Telesca (Spec. Ed.); James Zervas (Math)

Hommocks Principal Seth Weitzman (far right) & Assistant Principal Nora Mazzone (second from right) with the newly tenured faculty, in alphabetical order: Wendy Anderson (Soc. Stud.); Paula Barbis (Span.); Steven Goldstein (TA, Sci. Lab); Pedro Johnson (Media/Eng.); Karen McKee (Spec. Ed.); Julie Meehan (Math); Aaron Montgomery (Eng.); Jennifer Mulcahy (Spec. Ed.); Omar Rodriquez (Music); Michael Wing (Sci.)

Chatsworth Principal Jane Hand (second from l) with her newly tenured group: (from l) Mary Kate Glennon (gr 1), Principal Jane Hand, Sharon Daniels (gr 4), Beatrice Repking (gr 2), Janet Acobes (gr 3), Kimberly McKeon (gr 5) and Joan Fitzgerald (TA)

Assistant Directors of Special Education Shelley Fleischman, Roni Kramer.

Also receiving tenure at the elementary level were: Graceann Calicchio (TA), Central School; Maria Ellin (TA), Mamaroneck Avenue School; Nora Nigro (TA), MAS; Dorene Seymour (Spec. Ed.), MAS.
