Why you would want to serve on the Selection Committee:
With two children in the District, I am vitally concerned with the quality of their education. The Board of Education plays a critical role in determining the policy and direction of the District's educational programs and determining the trade-offs among competing budget priorities. With pressures from the Regents, ELAs and other statewide exams, the membership of the Board of Education will be key in promoting programs that help our children handle those tests while, at the same time, retaining the creativity, enriched curriculum, and support for each student as an individual for which the District has long stood. Serving on theSelection Committee, whose responsibility it is to find the best-qualified individuals for the Board of Education, will allow me to do my part towards ensuring that all our children continue to receive the best education with which we can provide them.
