Keep the Kids Busy and Outdoors This Holiday
from the Sheldrake Environmental Center
(December 15, 2004) Parents looking to keep their children occupied during
the holiday vacation have two options courtesy of the Sheldrake Environmental
Center – a
nature photography exhibition, that should keep children ages 8 and
up outdoors with their cameras, and a three day vacation club for ages
7 to 9. The Sheldrake provided the following details:
Sheldrake’s Holiday Vacation Club – 3 Days of Extinction!
December 28th, 29th and 30th
Humanoids, giant insects, dinosaurs and other creatures of the past
will be Naturalist Cindy Polera’s focus for three days of fun and
learning! Learn who ate who and then play a part in our “prehistoric
eco-drama”. Arts & crafts and nature walks are included in
this three-day program. Children ages 4-6 will meet from 10 am-12 noon.
Ages 7-9 meet from 1-3 pm. Fees: $72 members, $84 non-members. Space
is limited so please call 834-1443 to register.
Children’s Nature Photography Exhibition
Bring
your favorite photographs of the natural world to Sheldrake Environmental
Center and be part of a special event. Local photographer Arlene Novich
(that's a detail from one of her photos at left) recently held a photography
workshop at Sheldrake for children interested in photographing
the natural world. Now she invites those
participants
and all children ages 8 and up to display the photos they have taken.
EXHIBIT: An exhibit and reception will be held on Sunday, January 9
at 3 pm. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: Photos should be delivered to Sheldrake, located
at 685 Weaver Street, on Monday,
January 3rd or Tuesday, January 4th between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.
TO SUBMIT: Each photo must be 5x7 and matted. On the back, please write
your name, grade and telephone number. All photographs will be returned
at
the conclusion
of the exhibit in March.
If you enjoy nature– get out there and
click away! We never know who the next local artist will be!
