MHS Class of '54 Reunion

by Jim Horkheimer

(October 29, 2004) Ninety-two of the surviving 163 members of Mamaroneck HIgh School's class of 1954 attended their 50th reunion the weekend of October 1 to 3. The weekend opened with a cocktail reception at the Rye Town Hilton on Friday evening and went through until breakfast at the Larchmont Yacht Club on Sunday morning.

Saturday morning, about 70 people, including members of the class of 1964, were taken on a tour of the school by MHS teacher Don Phillips. The line at Walters was extra long at noon.

Saturday evening, the Larchmont Yacht Club was the scene of a buffet dinner attended by 148 classmates, spouses and friends. A formal photograph of the class was taken. Prior to dinner, there was a brief memorial service for the 31 deceased classmates, and 8 missing classmates were remembered.

A sparkling, clear Sunday morning provided the perfect setting for a farewell breakfast at the Yacht Club. All three sets of twins in the class were in attendance: Michael and Richard Gottlieb, Joan Gilburt Bohm and Joyce Gilburt Hood-Jelliff, and Lucille Ianarelli Carriero and Margaret Ianarelli Camillo.
