Election 2003 in Mamaroneck School District

On June 3, 2003 voters will go to the polls to vote on the budget for the Mamaroneck School District and to elect three members of the Mamaroneck Board of Education. It is the practice of the Larchmont Gazette to supply space for all candidates in an election to communicate directly with the voters. There are three candidates running for three open seats on the Board.

The following material is supplied by the Committee for the Selection of School Board Nominees.

All three candidates listed below have been endorsed by this Committee. On June 3, voters will have an opportunity in each elementary school to vote for members to serve on the Committee. See: Selection Committee for more information on this organization

From the Committee for the Selection of School Board Nominees:

Celia Felsher

Alan Parter

Linnet Tse

Celia’s commitment to public education is unquestioned. Her ability to grasp issues quickly, as well as her willingness to listen and understand, before acting, make her an integral member of the School Board. Her re-election will allow her to continue the vital work she has been involved with during her first term on the School Board.

A graduate of the Mamaroneck school system, Alan has an unusually broad knowledge of this community, a long-term commitment to our educational system and a record of enhancing communications between the public and the Board. These qualities, coupled with his business acumen, make him an invaluable asset to the School Board.

Linnet’s dedication and hard work on behalf of our school system has been exceptional, as well as unwavering – and widespread. She will bring these same disciplines to the School Board as a new Member. In addition, Linnet has a strong background in the financial field, and possesses keen analytical skills. On every educational issue, Linnet is committed to seeking input – and feedback – from the entire community.
