ON VILLAGE FINANCES & TAXES
• As a financial professional and member of the Village
Budget Committee, I understand the importance of a strong, strategic
budgeting process.
• The Mayor, in conjunction with the Budget Committee, has initiated a
comparative analysis of surplus and debt levels with similar communities. This
must be a priority to determine future budgetary resources.
• During a difficult economy, we must keep our property tax increases to
a minimum while maintaining our high level of services.
ON OUR PARKS -
• As a coach in youth sports leagues, I know first hand how much we need
new playing fields.
• We must continue evaluating and prioritizing renovation plans for Flint
Park, its ball fields, waterfront access, and finalize and implement plans for
new playground equipment.
• We must continue assessing all of our parks, to ensure optimal use.
ON BUSINESS DISTRICT IMPROVEMENTS
• Current initiatives on replacing sidewalks, lighting, curbs, and trash
receptacles are well underway and a terrific first step.
• We need to build on this progress, working with our local merchants,
Board of Architectural Review, and Beautification Committee, to consider how
to enhance building facades.
