Question the Candidates: III
Mike Wiener
|
If elected, what would you
do
to promote open government in Larchmont?
If elected I would keep doing what
we started as a board this year to do.
We created office hours on Saturday mornings for people to be
able to talk to the board about issues dear to them.
We moved people who wish to address to the board from the end
of the agenda up to the beginning, so that people do not have
to wait until late at night to ask a question. We also asked
all the
Village commissions and committees to do the same.
We have implemented new policies meant to guarantee openness:
- Requiring all non budgeted expenditures over $5,000 must be approved at a public
meeting after being noticed.
- Instituted a policy whereby no Village publications would be
distributed during campaign season.
We have made numerous new appointments to committees and commissions that were
independent of party affiliation. In fact it ended up that the new appointments
consisted of 24 Democrats and 17
Republicans. We work hard on getting groups of people working together to
solve thorny problems. We bring these issues up in public hearings
and foster debate, in an effort to achieve the best solution
possible.
We welcome input at every turn. |
