Larchmont’s Anne McAndrews:
A Standout on CBS News
(February 13, 2003
) Although local politics are not covered by CBS evening news, Larchmont’s
Anne McAndrews has been featured on the Dan Rather news program
three times in the last three weeks.
“Anne McAndrews is on the run. She runs a family,
a business and is running for local office. But Colin Powell's presentation
at the United Nations stopped her dead in her tracks,” reports
CBS News Correspondent Jim Axelrod.
The night before the State of the Union address CBS
sought her views on the Iraqi situation.
The crew came back to Larchmont for a second take
the day after the President spoke. And then they came again last
week, the day after Colin Powell gave his presentation at the UN.
Anne attributes her ability to handle the pressure
of a televised interview to her many years as President and spokesperson
for the League of Women Voters.
She has long-standing fascination with public policy,
its formulation and its impact on real people. It was from that
angle that she approached her discussion of Iraq with CBS.
Anne’s interview is available online
at CBS. (If CBS is no longer displaying the interview, click
