Latimer Continues Campaign for County Legislature as Opponent
Moves to Manhattan
by Judy Silberstein
(October 22, 2003) Voters in Larchmont and Mamaroneck will
have only one viable choice for Westchester County Legislator
when
they
go to
the polls on November 4: George Latimer. Two names appear
on the ballot, but the Republican candidate has moved out
of Westchester. Virginia Waters is living in Manhattan, so
is ineligible for the position and has not been campaigning.
That has not stopped George Latimer.

Latimer is running for his seventh term as County Legislator
for the 7th District. He has
been
attending
community
events, meeting voters, and answering questions from civic
groups. "I
have worked hard over these dozen years to represent the
Sound Shore faithfully," he said, "And my commitment
continues forward as we serve in a difficult time for public
finances
and public policies."
He
is also continuing to receive endorsements from a number
of organizations, including: the NY League of Conservation
Voters (see photo),
the AFL-CIO Central Labor Body, Westchester Coalition for
Legal Abortion, the Westchester Irish Committee, and the
Journal News. Latimer is running on three lines, Democratic, Independence
and Working Families Parties; there is no candidate on the
Conservative line; and Ms. Waters appears on the Republican
line.
