Larchmont Vehicles Vandalized by BB's
by Judy Silberstein

Saturday morning, October 11, two Larchmont homeowners awoke
to find their cars vandalized, probably by pellets fired
from
an air rifle or
BB gun. There were holes in windows and a
tail light, and dents in a fender. One car sustained over
$3400 in damages,
according to its owner.
"OK parents," said one frustrated victim. "You're buying
your children these guns. What do you think they're doing
with them?"
Her three-month old Mercedes-Benz station wagon was parked
in the driveway of her Beach Avenue home on Friday evening.
Her husband recalls hearing four pops and a loud car driving
away sometime during the night. The next morning, he found
the back window and fender had been shot.
"When you're talking $3400 in repairs, this isn't a prank
anymore," said the owner. "If this could dent the metal of
my car, it could certainly hurt someone."
The same evening, three cars on Woodbine received similar
treatment, according to Larchmont Police Department reports.
Pellets damaged a Yukon, Audi and Cooper belonging to the
same family.
The
Yukon and
Audi
were
left
with shattered
windows on the passenger side. The Cooper had a gold-colored
BB style projectile lodged in the lens of the tail light.
Police Chief Stephen Rubeo cautioned parents to monitor
their children's possessions. "BB guns are prohibited by
local ordinance," he advised.
