May 31 Tag Sale to Support Habitat for Humanity
press release from St. Augustine's Parish
(May 8, 2003) St. Augustine's Parish in Larchmont
will hold a tag sale on Saturday, May 31 in their parking
lot
(on Larchmont
Avenue, behind the
French-American School, next to the Larchmont Library) from 10 to 4, rain or
shine, to raise funds to support Habitat for Humanity. Tag sale chairperson Anne
Avenius declared, "Habitat for Humanity's mission to provide housing
is so compelling that we decided to organize this
fund raiser. Funds will support Unity
House, which is a cooperative effort by the region's houses of worship to provide
a house for a needy family."
"Every
family deserves to have a good roof over their heads," Ms. Avenius said.
Earlier, parishioners from St. Augustine's worked on a Habitat House in Mt.
Vernon. "There will be something for everyone," she continued. "House
wares, furniture, toys, books, small appliances, jewelry, tchotchkies,
bibelots, gewgaws, plants -- food and beverages,"
"Help out and have fun, too."
Donations are gladly accepted. Tables are still available.
All proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity.
