Dancing, Art, Ice Cream & Nature
at the Sheldrake
photos by Judy Silberstein
(May 4, 2003) The Sheldrake Environmental Center’s
Spring Festival, better known as “The
Ice Cream Social,” drew a large crowd of all ages to
the Larchmont
Reservoir
on Sunday, May 4. There was nature (including live iguanas
and polliwogs), the Reunion band, arts and crafts, snacks,
and free ice cream donated by Will
Doorly and Chris Xifaras. The brass rubbing craft made use
of models of bronze plaques by Sheldrake Board member and
artist Jackie Lorieo whose work is supported by a grant from
the
Westchester
Arts Council and the New York State Council on the Arts.
In the future, trail walkers will find the plaques mounted
and
displayed
throughout
the
Sheldrake.

out on Sunday were Stephanie Lazarus, Joe Zelvin,
Margaret Wiener, Lee Bloom, Mimi Koren,
and
Bernie Lazarus.

Director Bob Martin and Larchmont Village Mayor Ken
Bialo.
