Facing the challenge of a catastrophic illness or the premature
death of a loved one while handling the responsibilities
of family living can be overwhelming. For six years Larchmont
Friends of the Family has quietly provided assistance
to neighbors dealing with such crises by preparing meals,
arranging
transportation to medical appointments, working on children’s
educational needs, providing a vast array of consultative
services, and offering financial support. The not-for-profit
organization depends on volunteers for time and skills and
on the greater community for donations as well as links to
those families in need of these resources. Many local merchants
have also supported the organization by sharing their resources
and talents.
