The Town GOP is endorsing Tocci, while the Village GOP urges

The Westchester County Board of Elections today certified
the results of the September 10, 2002 Primary Election and
released data on official results in each of the voting districts.
Overall, Bramson received 3,655 or 61% of the votes, and Tocci
got 2,365 or 39%. In Mamaroneck, twenty out of twenty-one
districts went for Bramson over Tocci, with Bramson garnering
76% of all Mamaroneck votes. All eight City of Rye districts
went for Bramson, with Bramson winning 68% of all City of
Rye votes. In Town of Rye, Tocci received more votes than
Bramson in 16 out of 29 districts, but Bramson received a
greater percentage of the toal Town of Rye vote, 58%. In New
Rochelle, Tocci prevailed in thirteen of seventeen distsricts
and won 58% of the total New Rochelle votes. complete

Both the Bramson and Tocci campaigns today denounced as “hate-speech”
comments made by New Rochelle radio talk show host Bob Schaefer
in a post-primary e-mail to a number of New Rochelle City
Councilors and on his July 3 broadcast.. more

Tocci and Bramson lambasted each other’s environmental
records and defended their own positions on IKEA and Davids
Island projects. more
Tocci has filed to run on the Democratic, Republican, Conservative,
Independence, and Working Families Party lines. Bramson, has
filed petitions to run on the Democratic line. more
Bramson calls on Tocci to return campaign contributions
from the NRA and is critical of his opponents recent mailing
and of his record and leadership on gun safety issues. Tocci
counters that he has supported effective gun control legislation,
and has used his mailers to inform his constituency. more
State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer from Mamaroneck and Assemblywoman
Amy Paulin from Scarsdale announced their support for Ron Tocci.
Said the Senator, "We have worked as a team in Albany and in
the Sound Shore communities, and I have witnessed his unwavering
commitment to education, the environment, and health care."

District leaders from the Villages of Larchmont and Mamaroneck
and from the Town of Mamaroneck voted to endorse Noam Bramson.
The Bramson campaign suggests, "The Town of Mamaroneck, which
includes the Village of Larchmont and a portion of the Village
of Mamaroneck, is expected to account for a larger share of
the Democratic primary vote than any other town or city in the
91st Assembly District." more
Local leaders announced "our strong support for Noam Bramson
in the race for the New York State Assembly in the 91st Assembly
District, and we call on Assemblyman Ron Tocci to withdraw from
the Democratic primary immediately. The leaders are outraged
that Tocci has "pursued and accepted the Republican nomination."
"As a testament to my hard work on behalf of all constituents
and a recognition of the value of my 18 year tenure as an influential
voice in the Assembly Democratic Majority, I have been offered
endorsements from several political parties." more
According to Mr. Tocci's campaign, the Assemblyman will
not be officially accepting any endorsements until petitions
are through being circulated at the end of July.
"Ron's decision to accept the Republican nomination confirms
what many people have been saying for years, that Mr. Tocci
has an extreme right-wing record on a variety of issues that
is deeply out of touch with Democratic values." continued
June 24, James Cavanaugh, Westchester County Republican Party
Chairman, confirms to Larchmont Gazette that his party has
endorsed Ron Tocci for New York State Assembly District 91
and that petitions are being circulated so Mr. Tocci's name
can appear on the Republican line on ballots for the upcoming
elections.
