New York State United Teachers Extend Endorsement
To Tocci
Press Release
(October 11, 2002
) The Board of Directors of the New York State United
Teachers announced today its endorsement of Assemblyman
Ron Tocci for reelection to the New York State Assembly
in the 91st District of New York State. Assemblyman
Tocci also received the endorsement of NYSUT for the
primary election.
NYSUT President, Thomas Y. Hobart, Jr. stated, "The
best wishes of NYSUT's 489,000 members are extended
to you in all of your reelection campaign activities."
NYSUT represents 489,000 people who work in, or are
retired from, New York State teaching facilities including
schools and colleges. NYSUT is comprised of 900 local
unions and is part of the United Federation of Teachers,
which is the fastest growing union in the country.
"I am pleased and delighted to have received the
endorsement of NYSUT. I have a strong record on education
and look forward to sponsoring future legislation that
will help both students and teachers. As I have done
for the past eighteen years, I will continue to make
education a priority in my administration" Said
Assemblyman Tocci.
Assemblyman Tocci has a solid record on education that
has resulted in increased aid and tuition for the people
of his district. Tocci fought for a budget that increased
aid
for schools by $440 million statewide. He also secured
$934,219 more than the Governor's proposal for the Mamaroneck
School District. In addition, Assemblyman Tocci
voted for the important Tuition Assistance Program,
which restores aid to community colleges and provides
tax relief to families with students in college.
Assemblyman Tocci further stated, "I am pleased
that I have been able to bring record amouns of aid
to my district in a time of need. My seniority in the
Assembly and the respect of my colleagues on both sides
of the aisle, has allowed me to do as much as I have
for the children of this district."
