Tocci Honored with Overwhelming Support from NY State Unions and Organizations

Press Release

(October 9, 2002 ) Assemblyman Ron Tocci (D - New Rochelle) has found overwhelming support in unions and organizations all over NY State. Numerous unions and organizations have formally endorsed the Assemblyman so far for his re- election into the newly drawn 91st Assembly district this November. The unions and organizations are all from a broad range of specialties. The spectrum covers public service to public safety. But all have one thing in common. Tocci is their candidate. Since the primary each union and organization has had a hand in assuring victory for the Assemblyman.

These include:
The New York State AFL- CIO (comprised of 66 affiliate unions)
The New York League of Conservation Voters
The CSEA (The Civil Service Employees Association)
The AFSCME (The American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees)
The NYSUT (New York State United Teachers)
The LIUNA (The Laborers International Union of North America)
Triborough Bridge & Tunnel Authority Superior Officers Association
The Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association
The UPSC (Uniformed Public Safety Coalition)
11-99 SEIU (New York Health and Human Service Union)
The Association of Commuter Rail Employees
The United Transportation Union
Utility Workers Union of America
The Westchester County Correction Officer Benevolent Association
The New Rochelle Uniform Firefighters Association (local 273)
New Rochelle Police Association

Marcia Bystryn, Executive Director of NY League of Conservation Voters stated on behalf of the board that an endorsement from NYLCV for Assemblyman Tocci "is a testament to your dedication to preserving and protecting the environment. The league is impressed with your record as an outstanding leader on environmental issues."

Denis Hughes, President of The NY State AFL - CIO said, "We feel you (Assemblyman Ron Tocci) have been a strong advocate for the needs of all working men and women throughout the State of New York. The social and economic problems facing our state and nation require strong leadership on the part of our elected representatives. You have demonstrated such ability. We offer you best wishes in your campaign and the support of the members of the NY State AFL - CIO affiliates in your district.

Joseph Poggioli Jr., New Rochelle Police Association President said, "We appreciate Assemblyman Tocci's support and have tremendous confidence in his ability to give us the tools we need to combat crime and keep the City of New Rochelle safe."

Assemblyman Tocci responded by saying, "I am very, very proud and honored to run for re-election with the endorsements of these outstanding organizations and people. Now that the primary is over and the general election begins we are confident that the support of our friends in these working organizations will lead to further successes. Their service to Westchester County and NY State is an undeniable necessity. I am very confident that we will be victorious and will continue to do good things for our communities in the future.
