New York League of Conservation Voters
Endorses Tocci
(August 7, 2002) State Assemblyman Ronald C. Tocci
(D-New Rochelle) has received the endorsement of the
New York League of Conservation Voters.
The New York League of Conservation Voters, established
in 1989, is the nonpartisan political arm of New York's
environmental community. NYLCV works to protect and
improve the environment for all New Yorkers by educating
elected officials and advancing the election of political
candidates who make environmental protection a priority.
Endorsements are awarded to candidates who demonstrate
strong leadership on environmental issues. The process
includes a candidate questionnaire, interview, independent
research, and a full Board meeting and vote.
“The citizens of the 91st Assembly district should
know that a vote for Ronald Tocci is a vote for an established
environmental leader,” said Marcia Bystryn, executive
director of the NYLCV. “The League is confident
that Tocci will continue his excellent voting record
and activism on environmental issues.”
The NYLCV recognized Tocci’s environmental credentials,
which include his efforts to clean up Long Island Sound,
opposition to the IKEA project, and protection of David’s
Island. Tocci has also been instrumental in reducing
noise and air pollution along I-95.
“I am proud to be once again endorsed by the
League,” said Tocci. “I’ve worked
extremely hard to protect our water resources and open
spaces, and particularly the character of our neighborhoods
from unwanted development. An endorsement from NYLCV
is a testament to my dedication and effectiveness in
working to preserve and protect the Sound Shore environment.”
